Delivery & Returns
How we deliver your birth pool hire and how to return it — including carriers, force majeure and our UK/EU consumer returns policy.
Information
We will deliver your pool hire around 36 weeks. You will receive a booking confirmation within 1 working day after your order is placed.
Please note Mondays are extremely busy so the weekend's bookings are put onto the system after the pools that are already booked for dispatch have been shipped.
If the specified delivery date is not convenient simply reply to the confirmation email with a suitable date and we will adjust this for you.
If you are placing an order after 36 weeks we will dispatch your pool as soon as we are able.
Delivery to UK mainland is standard for weekday deliveries and includes the return shipping after your hire period ends.
We only hire to UK mainland — we do not offer hires to Ireland / Highlands & Islands — please contact us to see if we can help a different way.
Standard delivery is next working day from dispatch.
We do not dispatch pools on a Friday unless you select Saturday delivery.
Saturday delivery is charged at a cost of £19.99.
Carriers
We ship via a variety of 3rd party couriers including DPD, Parcelforce and UPS and as such we have no control over when they will deliver the goods.
All deliveries must be signed for, therefore you will need to ensure someone is available to accept the delivery.
If you are at work during the day we can ship to your work address — just add it as the delivery address when you enter your details.
If a mobile number is provided and the courier offers the service, text messages will be sent to update you about your parcel.
The Birth Partnership cannot be held responsible for failed deliveries.
The contents of your order and your delivery postcode will determine which delivery service you will be offered.
We do not deliver to P.O. boxes or shipping agent addresses.
Please ensure you keep the receipt enclosed with your order in case of any problems.
Force Majeure
The Birth Partnership shall have no liability to you for any failure to deliver goods you have ordered or any delay in doing so, or for any damage or defect to goods delivered that is caused by any event or circumstance beyond its reasonable control.
Whilst every reasonable effort shall be made to keep to any delivery date, time of delivery shall not be of the essence and The Birth Partnership shall not be liable for any losses, costs, damages or expenses incurred by the customer or any other person or company arising directly or indirectly out of any failure to meet any estimated delivery date.
The risk in the goods shall pass from the company to the customer upon delivery of such goods to the customer.
Returning Your Hired Products
The returns process is just as simple — our pools are shipped in a heavy duty shipping container that is used for returning your pool.
We ask you to arrange return of your birth pool within 48 hours of baby's arrival for hygiene reasons. Please ensure that the pool is dry and any blood present on the pool fabric is cleaned off prior to shipping. This simple process ensures the safety of all of the couriers and our staff members during the returns process.
We use Parcelforce for our birth pool returns and the returns label is inside an envelope in the crate when delivered (if shipped on or after 9 January 2026). Please follow the instructions given on the "How to Return Your Hire Pool" sheet. We recommend that you use the Parcelforce label to cover the label we sent the crate to you with as it is possible that the return may be redelivered back to you (it has happened!!). In this case, you will need to organise the shipment back to us as the label we gave you will be "spent" and no longer usable.
We are unable to offer a time for collections and you will be required to be home until Parcelforce arrive (0900–1830 in many cases). Failed collections will require you to rebook through Parcelforce.
You can choose to either drop the crate off at your local Post Office or arrange for Parcelforce to collect. The collection option does incur a charge of £0.30.
To arrange a Parcelforce collection: 1/ You now need to have a pre-printed label. The label and the cable ties can be found in the envelope that is inside the crate (in all hire pools shipped on or after 9 January 2026). Please check that you have the label within 48 hours of receipt otherwise a charge may be applicable for a replacement. 2/ If you have no label in your envelope (this will be the case for all hire pools shipped on or before 8 January 2026), please call us within 48 hours of receipt of the hire pool/TENS machine, and we can either a/ post a label to you, or b/ if you have access to a printer, we are able to email you a label. 3/ Once you have the label, go to https://send.royalmail.com/collect/youritems and follow the instructions to return your parcel — enter tracking number (two letters, nine numbers followed by GB, found under the barcode); select large parcel; enter the weight (up to 30kg if unused with unopened liner and hose, or up to 20kg if used as liner and hose will not be returning); enter your collection postcode and select your address; choose your collection date (times not guaranteed, available all day); add to basket and pay the collection fee.
The birth pool and any returnable items must be used as specified & returned to us in a clean, dry condition.
A cleaning charge (£25) will be applied if the kit is returned to us in need of detailed cleaning (e.g. wet or bloody).
The use and care of this hire kit is your responsibility. The Birth Partnership take no responsibility for damage caused by misuse.
TENS are returned to us via Royal Mail — simply pop the hire kit in the supplied envelope with the pre-paid returns label and take to the Post Office. Keep your drop-off receipt until you receive a confirmation that we have received the TENS hire kit.
All damages & losses are chargeable at full R.R.P.
